Connecticut's Mayflower Inn & Spa Under New Ownership

July 26, 2011 - The Mayflower Inn & Spa announces Alan Kanders' and Warren Kanders' ownership of the five-star property as of July 12.

Set in Connecticut's bucolic Litchfield Hills, less than two hours from New York City, the Mayflower Inn & Spa is a luxurious country house hotel featuring luxurious accommodations, beautiful gardens, outstanding cuisine and a destination spa.

Alan Kanders, a principal of Three Wall Capital based in New York City is a hotel owner and investor. Throughout his 25-year hospitality career Alan Kanders has invested in over 350 full service hotels throughout North America and Europe. These investments have included boutique and resort properties and totaled over $7.8bn of investments. Prior to founding Three Wall Capital, Alan Kanders was a Managing Director with Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. During his tenure with Lehman Brothers Alan was instrumental in financing numerous five star properties including Ritz Carlton's and other independent upscale hotels.

Warren Kanders a Greenwich, Connecticut based financier serves as Executive Chairman of Black Diamond Equipment, Inc., a leading manufacturer of branded outdoor lifestyle equipment. He is also a partner in Isle de France, Saint-Barths a world class seaside hotel. Warren Kanders is a Trustee of Choate Rosemary Hall School in Wallingford, Connecticut and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City.

Onsite management at the Mayflower Inn & Spa will continue. John Trevenen, who has served as General Manager since 1992, will oversee the property's consistent and unparalleled attention to luxuriant detail and personalized service. Of the Kanders appointment, Trevenen stated, "I look forward to working closely with our active new owners who will elevate the Mayflower experience for all guests. Their vision and innovation will improve upon our internationally acclaimed property." Director of Sales Christine Afiouni, a 12 year Mayflower veteran, will also continue in her role at the Mayflower.

The property currently holds the Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond awards, is a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux, and has been honored by Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler.
