Hundreds from the Hotel's Local Community Turn Out to Mark the Special Occasion

GROTON, CT - August 16, 2011 - Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. and the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton, CT recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the hotel's grand opening. The milestone was celebrated as a true community event, with hundreds of members of the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders in attendance. When it opened on June 28, 2001, the AAA 4-Diamond Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa was Connecticut's first new full-service hotel outside Native American reservations in at least a decade. Today, the hotel continues to drive interest in the Southeastern Connecticut region on the part of major corporations, meeting and conference planners, leisure travelers and local groups for events ranging from board meetings to weddings. The 285-room Mystic Marriott is professionally managed by Waterford Hotel Group, Inc., a national hotel and convention center management firm with offices in Waterford, CT.

The 10th Birthday Celebration led attendees throughout the hotel to experience everything the hotel has to offer. Festivities included a margarita-themed pool area, a wine room, and a seashore lounge. Entertainment at the event included the Mystic Aquarium's African Penguins, Mystic Seaport characters, a Contortionist, a Human Tree Statue, as well as an Aerial Performance. Guests enjoyed a wide array of food and drink prepared by the hotel's culinary team.
