HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, AR, February 2, 2007. Live music will be added for the first time to the First Ever Fourth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17 in downtown Hot Springs.

"A great Memphis-based band named the Sallymacs will play before and after the parade in the area around Bridge Street and Broadway," said Steve Arrison, executive director of the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, one of the parade sponsors. "They play a Celtic-based contemporary rock style that will fit in perfectly with the over-all atmosphere of the parade."

Arrison also reminded potential parade entries that the CVB is accepting entry forms for the 2007 version of the parade, which has attracted worldwide attention to Hot Springs since its inception in 2004. Entry forms are available at the Convention Bureau at 134 Convention Boulevard, on the Hot Springs website, www.hotsprings.org, or by calling Leysa Robertson at 501-321-2027.

The Sallymacs, whose new CD, "Live," is available on Rockingchair Records, were formed in 1998 when British singer/songwriter Mark Harriman crossed the Atlantic to America after performing with a nine-piece Irish band the performed Celtic music throughout Europe.

He teamed up with producer/engineer/guitarist Mark Yoshida and they began performing contemporary Irish songs in addition to the traditional Irish folk songs they had previously featured.

Drummer Todd Nichoalds and bassist Brady Howle were added to the group and contributed modern rock and bluegrass backgrounds to the Sallymac sound.

"Some of the songs the Sallymacs perform have backgrounds that are 200 years old," Arrison said, "but they produce a sound that is as fresh and exciting as that found in an Irish pub."

"They do traditional Irish tunes such as 'Irish Rover,' 'Molly Malone,' 'Wild Mountain Thyme,' and add such contemporary songs as 'Have I Told You Lately,' 'Video Killed the Radio Star' and 'With or Without you,'" Arrison said.

The celebrity grand marshal for the 2007 parade will be Mario Lopez, who was runner-up in the smash hit TV series, "Dancing With the Stars," and who also is featured in a hit soap, "The Bold and the Beautiful."
