Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Issues Statement on Flooding Situation in Bangkok
Bangkok - 27 October 2011 - The seasonal monsoon rainfall, worsened by a series of tropical depressions, is flooding wide areas of central Thailand including Ayutthaya province.
The surge of floodwater from Ayutthaya province has broken through the dykes and expanded to areas of Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces, thus, some districts of Bangkok Metropolitan Area located on the eastern and western outer ring of Bangkok are now affected such as Don Mueang district.
The government has declared 27 -28 and 31 October official public holidays for affected provinces including Bangkok Metropolitan Area. The government offices will be closed during these days, however, banks and companies run by the private sector remain open.
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is open for business as the hotel and central Bangkok have not been affected at this stage. Thailand's international and domestic airports, and mass transportation systems, such as the BTS SkyTrain and subway, are all operating normally. Only Don Mueang Domestic Airport has been closed and all domestic flights that will arrive or depart from this airport are now transferred to Suvarnabhumi International Airport instead.
To avoid any inconvenience in terms of road accessibility to and from the hotel caused by flooding, we recommend that guests use the BTS SkyTrain as well as the Airport Link Train for travelling to and from the airport.
The management and employees of Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok would like to express their deep sorrow and sympathy for all flood victims.
The management of the hotel will continue to monitor the situation and will update guests with any further development as it unfolds.
