The reduced-price early registration period for the second Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS) ends on Friday, August 31, and the nomination period for the summit's major award program ends just one week later. The summit itself is not far away. Set for October 8 and 9, 2012, CHRS is produced by the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration as a keystone conference that creates opportunities for university researchers and industry practitioners to work together on industry issues. A strong group of participants has already registered.

"The CHRS is offering the Research and Analytics Award," said Professor Rohit Verma, CHRS chair, "and the submission deadline for that is September 7. With this award, we honor the industry's use of analytics and research to improve their operations. The winning concept will be promoted in connection with the summit."

The summit's theme, "Service Excellence and Performance Growth in the Global Hospitality Industry: Strategies and Approaches for Navigating Forward," is designed to bring out the most effective possible research-based strategies to improve industry operations. Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., is the title sponsor of this year's summit.

Verma added: "As shown in our program, our 80-plus presenters come from around the world, which means that conference participants will gain a broad perspective on these topics. The presentations also cover many hospitality businesses and related enterprises. The summit's presentation tracks include topics like brand management, customer satisfaction, mobile innovations, pricing and revenue management, social media, strategic planning, and trends in the restaurant industry, the travel industry, and hotel industry. I hope everyone takes advantage of the early registration period."

In addition to 84 individual presentations, the CHRS features two keynote panels, a top-level international panel of deans of hospitality programs, chaired by Kirk Kinsell, president of InterContinental Hotels Group, and a panel featuring the leaders of four hospitality related firms, chaired by Steven Carvell, associate dean of the School of Hotel Administration.
