Furnace Creek Resort in Death Valley Announces Cycling Packages for Fall Season
DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK - August 30, 2012 - Furnace Creek Resort (www.furnacecreekresort.com) in Death Valley National Park will offer two packages featuring accommodations and the use of bicycles to explore some of the 3.3 million-acre park.
"Cycling on the paved and dirt roads offers one of the best ways to experience this massive park's strange and stunning landscapes," said Phil Dickinson, director of sales and marketing for Furnace Creek Resort. "Adventurous visitors seeking a rigorous ride can cycle some of the steepest routes, while cyclists who don't really want to work that hard can find plenty of flat, paved roads offering panoramic views."
The Scenic Downhill Bicycle Tour package features two nights of accommodations in a standard or deluxe room at the Ranch at Furnace Creek, use of a specially designed Worksman bicycle and a helmet, transportation to drop-off point, guide, water and energy bar and. Tours depart daily from the Furnace Creek Resort and proceed to the start of the ride at "Hells Gate." Rates per person per night are $123.75 in a standard Ranch room and $133.75 in a deluxe room October 12 - December 19, 2012
The Mountain Bike Adventure package features two nights of accommodations in a standard or deluxe room at the Ranch at Furnace Creek, helmet, bicycle equipped with 24 speeds and hydraulic disc brakes, water and energy bar. The helmet and bicycle may be used from dawn until dusk. Rates per person per night are $121 in a standard Ranch room and $131 in a deluxe room October 12 - December 19, 2012
Rates are based upon double occupancy and do not include taxes, resort fee or gratuities. Additional adults may be added to the same room for $42.50 plus tax for the Mountain Bike Adventure or $45.50 for the Scenic Downhill Bicycle Tour. The packages must be reserved at least two days in advance and cannot be booked for more than two nights. Death Valley National Park is the largest national park in the continental United States, with more than 3.3 million acres. Only two percent of the park is developed leaving huge areas open for exploration. There are several hundred miles of unimproved roads that can best be accessed by four-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicles. Vehicles are not permitted to drive off roads within park boundaries.
