U.S. Travel Association to Release Traveler Entry Study
Report details economic consequences of delays at U.S. air ports of entry, offers remedies

Media Teleconference, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11:00am EDT
Millions of travelers are choosing not to visit the United States due to often lengthy U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) entry procedures at our nation's gateway airports. Delaying and deterring visitors is estimated to cost the U.S. economy $95 billion and 518,000 jobs over five years.
The process must be improved in order to reach our national goal of attracting 100 million international visitors by 2021—an influx of travelers that would add $250 billion to our economy every year.
On September 18, the U.S. Travel Association will release a new report that examines the CBP entry process for international visitors to the U.S.; outlines the economic consequences if shortcomings are left unaddressed; and recommends 20 policy proposals to improve the current process. U.S. Travel, joined by leaders of the travel industry, will discuss the report and its ramifications for the overall economy.
