Best Western Announces Eco-resort in Ipoh, Malaysia

April 30, 2014 - Best Western International has unveiled a new luxury resort in Malaysia, which is set to showcase the group's environmental credentials.

Nestled among the lush jungle-clad hills of the Malay Peninsula, Best Western Premier The Haven, Ipoh, is quite literally a "haven" for nature lovers and those in search of place to unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

It will also feature an extensive array of leisure facilities, including a spectacular four-level lagoon-style swimming pool, tropical gardens, a jogging track, barbecue and picnic areas, a gymnasium, badminton and tennis courts, a children's playground, cafe and restaurant.

And in keeping with the resort's natural landscape, BEST WESTERN PREMIER The Haven, Ipoh, also showcases impressive environmental credentials. It is one of the first properties in Malaysia to use 100 percent renewable energy, by harnessing the power of the wind and sun. The resort also harvests rainwater to use elsewhere in the property.

"We are delighted to have been entrusted with the running of this stunning, environmentally-friendly resort," said Glenn de Souza, Best Western's Vice President of International Operations for Asia & Middle East.

"Best Western Premier The Haven, Ipoh, really does offer what its name suggests: a blissful haven of peace and tranquility set among the ancient jungles of Ipoh. Guests can indulge in a vast range of leisure pursuits, including jogging, walking and racket sports, or simply relax and unwind in the resort's stunning swimming pools.

"And the resort's excellent energy-saving initiatives mean guests will have peace of mind, knowing their stay is in balance and harmony with the surrounding environment," Mr. de Souza added.

Best Western Premier The Haven, Ipoh, will become Best Western's fourth hotel in Malaysia, following existing properties in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. But the company is planning a major expansion across the country in the coming months and years, with new hotels scheduled to open in Melaka, Port Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and the Genting Highlands, as well as two more properties in KL.
