Kimpton Appoints Senior Director Operations
APRIL 11, 2007. Kimpton Hotels announced today the promotion of Rick Colangelo to Senior Director of Operations. In his new position, Colangelo will be responsible for overseeing Kimpton's East Coast properties including Boston, Mass. - Nine Zero Hotel and Onyx Hotel; Cambridge, Mass. - Hotel Marlowe; New York, N.Y. - 70 park avenue hotel and Muse Hotel. He will also be opening new Kimpton properties in Miami, Fla. and two new Kimpton properties in New York, N.Y.
Mr. Colangelo is a 22-year veteran in hospitality management. His resume boasts experience at some of the country's most prominent hotels and resorts. Colangelo began his career with Kimpton Hotels in 2002 where he opened and served as General Manager for the Hotel Marlowe. Since, Colangelo has worked on the opening hotel team for Kimpton Hotels' East Coast properties and, in 2003, earned a promotion to Area Director of Operations for Boston/Cambridge.
Through his leadership, Hotel Marlowe was recently ranked third in Boston on Cond'e Nast Traveler's "Hot List 2006." In addition, Nine Zero Hotel has been featured on Cond'e Nast Traveler "Gold List" for four straight years and voted Boston's Best Boutique Hotel 2003 by Boston Magazine.

Colangelo earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Outside of the hotel, Colangelo spends time at his home in North Reading, MA with his wife and children.
