Highly anticipated art and lifestyle hotel, FOUND:RE Phoenix announces on-site restaurant and bar
PHOENIX, AZ. March 7, 2016 - Announced today, MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails will be the on-site restaurant at the much-anticipated FOUND:RE Phoenix, providing a unique dining experience for locals and travelers alike. An extension of the one-of-a-kind art and lifestyle hotel, MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails will serve a selection of eclectic, globally-inspired street food in a fun and vibrant atmosphere that draws on the energy of the growing downtown art scene. The restaurant will exude creativity through innovative cuisine, inspired libations and interactive guest experiences.
Bringing more than two decades of industry talent and culinary expertise, Executive Chef Akos Szabo is leading the kitchen at MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails and FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel. Simple and refined, the ever-changing menus created by Chef Szabo will focus on sharable plates. Chef Szabo is committed to supporting the Phoenix economy by partnering with local businesses such as Cochise Cattle Company, Crow's Dairy, Noble Bread, Mediterra Bakehouse, Recycled City, and the Orchard Community Farm.
“MATCH will take you on a culinary journey,” said Chef Szabo. “It all starts when we strike a match to build a fire. We pair simple ingredients with technique, food with wine, and flavors with textures.”
Chef Szabo started his professional culinary career at AAA five-diamond Mary Elaine's at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz. and has since worked his way through Southern California, Chicago, Boston, Napa Valley and Spain, providing him with a diverse culinary style that melds global cuisine with local ingredients. Born in California, Chef Szabo proudly embraces his Guatemalan heritage. At a young age, cooking alongside his grandmother, Mama Lola, Chef Szabo realized his passion for cooking.
“At MATCH, our focus is going 'Glocal' by fusing global street foods and custom cocktails, with locally sourced ingredients,” said Vittal Calamur, FOUND:RE general manager. “We want this to be a unique experience for anyone dining and drinking at MATCH Cuisine & Cocktails, whether it's with friends, family, clients, and all other social rendezvous. The hope is to stir curiosity with an innovative guest experience, and provide a place where our neighbors come together day after day.”
Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, MATCH will provide a community aspect that is inventive, approachable and almost entirely local. A central focus of the menu items will come from a beautiful Forno Bravo wood oven, as well as a wood grill fueled by a mix of wood from Northern Arizona. Hand-in-hand with MATCH's globally-inspired menu, the cocktail program will focus on unique, artful libations sourced from local ingredients and international spirits, along with a selection of Arizona craft beers and wine.
