The Coconut Traveler, Hawaii's leading luxury travel company in the islands, announced today their official partnership with North America's first carbon neutral private aviation company, Private Jet Services (PJS). This alliance further enhances The Coconut Traveler's exceptional itinerary offerings and helps build upon their mission of delivering sustainable travel experiences to their discerning clientele.

"Affluent travelers today demand travel solutions that are reflective of our current global climate. Both The Coconut Traveler and Private Jet Services are 100 percent committed to neutralizing the carbon footprint of travelers without compromising luxury," said Debbie Misajon, founder of The Coconut Traveler. "This partnership will further extend our reach to the conscious traveler while providing peace of mind from start to end."

This new partnership with PJS will enable The Coconut Traveler to seamlessly package the entire experience and create positive impact opportunities. Guests will be able to fly directly to the Hawaiian islands from virtually anywhere in the world. Alongside Private Jet Services' team of aviation concierges, The Coconut Traveler will deliver a customized proposal with various aircraft options and appropriate recommendations based on the traveler's unique requirements.

"Debbie and her team at The Coconut Traveler operate as we do at PJS, designing ‘exclusive experiences' for their guests," stated Greg Raiff, CEO of PJS. "As an aviation consultancy, our mission is to go beyond the flight and customize every trip to the whims and wishes of our clients. Aligning with The Coconut Traveler maintains the comforts and level of service expected from PJS, we are thrilled to be part of Debbie's team."

Private Jet Services pledge to make a positive global impact through carbon neutrality and its aggressive reforestation program with American Forests is in alignment with The Coconut Traveler's own philanthropic endeavours. When travelers book an experience with The Coconut Traveler, they are encouraged to give back to the islands, whether through volunteer hours or bespoke experiences that directly impact their host communities (such as deep sea dives, volcano explorations, curated culturalist adventures and more).

Revenue Management: Monetizing All Offerings

Of all the departments within hotel operations, Revenue Management may have been the hardest hit, due to the pandemic. The logic goes - no revenue, no need for revenue managers - so many industry professionals were furloughed. If business rebounds in 2021, as expected, then hotel management will have to determine when prevailing occupancy levels justify bringing back their revenue management team. Also, the pandemic seems to have exposed some weaknesses in the traditional RevPAR models. There is a growing understanding that it is no longer sufficient to use a "revenue per available room" model; instead, hotels are adopting a TRevPAR model (total revenue per available room). This model recognizes that revenue streams from other departments are just as important as the revenue gained from rooms. As a result, hotels are looking at ways to monetize any and all hotel offerings - from dining outlets and spas to outdoor function spaces and local partnerships. The October issue of the Hotel Business Review will examine these developments and report on how some leading hotels are executing their revenue management strategies.
