Leading Hospitality Management Company Expands Corporate Team, Poised for Continued

USA, Atlanta, Georgia. May 11, 2021

Davidson Hospitality Group announces the appointment of Seth McDaniels as Vice President, Openings & Transitions. In his role, he will be responsible for directing all new build openings, acquisitions and dispositions across company verticals, including Davidson Hotels, Pivot and Davidson Resorts.

McDaniels joins the team from Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where he served as director of openings, transitions & brand experience, overseeing pre-opening and transition budget development while creating and implementing all lifestyle brand operational standards. He held a similar corporate role with Two Roads Hospitality prior to Hyatt's acquisition of the organization in 2018. During his combined four-year tenure, he successfully transitioned, opened and dispositioned 25 properties while managing 28 new build projects. Previously, McDaniels was general manager at The Epiphany (now Nobu Hotel Palo Alto) in Palo Alto, California, where he oversaw all operational departments and stewarded the success of the property - which led to being named #1 hotel in overall service scores in the former Two Roads portfolio. He also held several leadership positions with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, including The Goodland in Santa Barbara, California and EPIC Hotel in Miami, Florida.

"We are very happy to welcome Seth to the Davidson family," said Davidson Hospitality Group Chief Operating Officer Pete Sams. "Seth's experience as an operator, particularly in the lifestyle segment, will be highly valuable as we are poised for continued expansion within each of our verticals. His detail-oriented, nuanced approach combined with his dynamic leadership skills will foster a highly productive and seamless environment for our new and transitioning properties."

McDaniels received a B.S. in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, Chaplin School of Hospitality Management.

Hotel Spa: Reconnecting With Nature

Hotel spas have never been so popular. The global wellness market is estimated to be in excess of $1.5 trillion with an annual growth rate of 5 to 10 percent. Consequently, spas are continually developing new programs, products, tools, and environments to meet the needs of guests who are seeking total body health and wellness. One trend that spas are embracing is a multiplicity of ways to reconnect with nature. Spas are moving beyond the “garden” model and going deeper into the countryside and forest, providing immersion in a wilder natural setting. Wild swimming, forest bathing, foraging, outdoor massage, and hiking trails are concepts that are being designed into the spa journey. Some hotels have built individual cabins deep in the forest for sauna, bathing and massage treatments, and others are offering bedroom suites which are located in cabins or tree houses away from the main hotel. The July issue of the Hotel Business Review will report on these and other developments, and how some hotel spas are integrating them into their operations.
