Sonesta Expands International Portfolio in South America With Sonesta Hotel Cali

USA, Newton, Massachusetts. May 02, 2022

Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (Sonesta) is expanding its international portfolio and footprint in South America with the addition of Sonesta Hotel Cali, the brand's seventh property in Colombia. The hotel is located 12 miles north of the Alfonso Bonilla Airport and just north of downtown Cali.

The hotel features 148 fully equipped guest rooms and 33 executive suites. Guests benefit from a variety of onsite amenities, including two restaurants, a lobby bar, a business center, a fitness center, a swimming pool and a spa. Sonesta Hotel Cali also has 10 meeting rooms totaling 11,646 square feet to accommodate business meetings and events.

Cali is the self-proclaimed "salsa capital of the world" with distinct neighborhoods, each with unique restaurants, nightlife and attractions, including architecturally significant cathedrals and churches. The city is surrounded by mountains, forests and natural parks, offering plenty of opportunity to explore, hike and birdwatch. The hotel's proximity to designer boutiques in the nearby Chipichape Shopping Center and Zone Rosa and its location just minutes from the city center and major businesses make it a great choice for both business and leisure travelers. "The addition of Sonesta Hotel Cali to our global portfolio brings momentum to our refocused efforts in Latin America," said Keith Pierce, Sonesta's President Franchise & Development. "We are eager to continue growing our presence in South America."

Sonesta Hotel Cali marks the brand's 13th hotel in South America under the management of GHL Hotels.

"We are excited about the potential for long-term expansion in the region, especially for Sonesta franchise opportunities in the Caribbean and Mexico," said Brian Quinn, Chief Development Officer for Sonesta. "We look forward to working with our master franchisee GHL to expand our reach in the region."

Sales & Marketing: Promoting Peace of Mind

As the hotel industry transitions to a more familiar position, it is still necessary for hotels to emphasize in their marketing the health protocols they have implemented to ensure guest safety and wellness. Above all, guests need to be reassured that every precaution is being taken to safeguard their well-being. Additionally, there are other marketing strategies that hotels can implement as a way to boost their business. For example, neighborhood marketing is a tactic that relies heavily on appealing to local audiences. Incentives targeting locals can fulfill the craving that some people have for time away from home, but aren't ready to hop on a plane. Another viable strategy is to promote experiences in nature. After being stuck inside for so long, many people are looking for hotels to help them re-connect with the great outdoors. The June Hotel Business Review will focus on the marketing strategies that some hotels are adopting and how they are benefiting from them.
