World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Parade Gets Bigger But Not Longer With Addition of Shortest Rock Tribute Band

. October 14, 2008

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, AR, December 4, 2007. The World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade will be even bigger - but not one inch shorter - with the addition of the world's shortest rock tribute band for the 2008 edition.

"We're going to feature Mini Kiss, a truly exciting Kiss tribute band made up of little people dressed and made up exactly like the iconic 1970s arena rockers," said Steve Arrison, CEO of the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. "They will play a free concert in the Broadway Entertainment District immediately after the 2008 parade and fireworks show. Mini Kiss should add a note of excitement and great fun to an event that is already famous worldwide as one of America's unique public celebrations."

The First Ever Fifth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade and Pub Crawl will be held on Monday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m. on Bridge Street, described by Ripley's Believe It or Not as the shortest street in the world in daily use.

Arrison said additional entertainment surrounding the 2008 parade will be announced soon. Celebrity grand marshals for previous parades have included TV stars Mario Lopez, George Wendt (Norm from "Cheers") and Pauly Shore.

Mini Kiss, formed in 1998 in New York, consists of Joseph James Datale (Mini Gene), Terra Jole (Mini Paulina), Travis Ellis (Mini Peter) and Wilbur Mullet (Mini Ace).

The mini-rockers have succeeded in doing what many other Kiss tribute bands con only dream of: They have been acknowledged by Kiss and have even met the band. They have toured America and Europe and even played with Gene Simmons, the super-tongue member of the original band.

The annual parade has attracted worldwide notice for Hot Springs since its inception in 2004.

The 2007 parade and accompanying Pub Crawl attracted an estimated 15,000 people into the downtown area to watch marchers, floats, bands and other entertainment units cover the 98-foot parade route on world-famous Bridge Street.
