The Saucy Sisters Develop Humor-Filled Wine Education Program For Meeting Groups

Nationally Known Authors and Talk Show Hosts Offer Wine FUNdamentals Presentations

. October 14, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 2005) -- Wine divas Barbara Nowak and Beverly Wichman (known as The Saucy Sisters), authors of two nationally distributed books about wine, are launching a new humor-filled wine education program for corporate meetings and social organizations of all sizes.

The sisters will "uncork" their new venture at Stetson University Law School in St. Petersburg, Fla., in September and at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, Tenn., in October. The "Let the Saucy Sisters put the FUN into Wine FUNdamentals" program can be specially tailored for events such as conventions, trade shows, workshops, team-building seminars, executive training sessions, college events, spouse activities and association gatherings.

Nowak and Wichman, whose second book about wine hits store shelves this fall, use a one-of-a-kind, comical, "off-beat" approach to keep audiences laughing as they learn all they need to know about wine and corporate hospitality. Some of their popular topics include It's My Party and I'll Wine If I Want To, The Ten Commandments for Executive Entertaining, and Pinot Envy and Other Wine Myths Dispelled.

"There's so much fear and pretension associated with wine," Nowak said. "We offer our audiences a glass of humor and give them the tools and confidence they need to project a sophisticated and savvy image when ordering wine in a restaurant or talking to the most condescending wine snob."

The Saucy Sisters are authors of The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine: What Every Girl Should Know Before She Uncorks (Penguin Group, 2004) and The Everything Wine Book (Adams Media, September 2005). Nowak and Wichman have also contributed their opinions on food and wine to national and regional publications such as Coastal Living magazine, Swirl Wine News and Wine Adventure. They also wrote Best Places to East in Nashville, a popular review of restaurants in Middle Tennessee and, for five years, hosted Eat, Drink and Be Saucy on Nashville radio station WAMB-AM.

"We add spirit to a group event, helping create an espirit de corps among attendees," said Wichman, a highly respected human resources professional with more than 20 years of corporate training experience. "With our Wine Your Way to the Winner's Circle team-building workshop, team members develop meaningful connections with each other and are guaranteed fun and laughter at the same time."

Wichman is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) who has worked for major U.S. corporations and government institutions, including Dow Chemical, ITT Corp., Pirelli Tire, Atlantic Envelope Co., and the Central Intelligence Agency. She has trained employees at all levels -- from the hourly workforce to executives -- and has developed industry-proven meetings that are motivational and instructive. She is a Green Belt in Six Sigma and, through her project leadership, has produced positive bottom-line results in manufacturing, sales, finance, customer service and operations.

Nowak wrote the best-selling cooking reference book, Cook It Right, and served as a food and restaurant columnist for The Tennessean daily newspaper. For four seasons, she hosted regular cooking segments on HGTV's Today at Home.

Mary Rau-Foster, president of Foster Seminars and Communications, has said, "The Saucy Sisters' humorous approach to speaking and writing has caused me to return again and again to hear them and read their books. They are refreshing, fun and memorable." And, according to Wall Street Journal columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher, "These ladies really know their wine!"

Other upcoming Saucy Sisters appearances include Hanging Around Eclectic Arts gallery in Nashville, the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania convention in Philadelphia, and the Levy Group in Atlanta.
