The Driskill Appoints Adreanne Lewis as Director of Sales, Events, and Marketing

USA, Austin, Texas. March 17, 2023

Historic Texas hotel, The Driskill, is pleased to announce the appointment of Adreanne Lewis as Director of Sales, Events, and Marketing.

In her new role, the seasoned hospitality professional will lead the sales and marketing team working on behalf of The Driskill, which boasts 189 total luxurious guest rooms and renovated suites; 18,000 square feet of beautiful, flexible meeting space; and the famous Driskill Bar and 1886 Cafe & Bakery. Working closely with General Manager Markus Puereschitz, Lewis's responsibilities will include managing the 137-year-old hotel's sales and meeting spaces for conferences, events, and weddings while ensuring the highest quality experience for guests and customers through curated events, activations, and brand partnerships throughout the year. Lewis will accelerate The Driskill's position within the Austin marketplace through prioritization of creative problem-solving and collaboration with stakeholders.

"Since working in the hospitality industry for over a decade, I am honored to steward a property as historic as The Driskill," said Adreanne Lewis. "The hotel serves as an iconic symbol of Austin past and present, and I look forward to further broadening The Driskill's prestige as a beacon of true Texan hospitality."

Lewis brings a wealth of Austin-centric knowledge to the hotel, most recently from her time as Director of Event Sales and Services at the Fairmont Austin, where she successfully helped lead the pre-opening team of Austin's largest hotel in 2018, later spearheading the hotel's event strategy, revenue growth, and community partnerships for the company.

Prior to moving to Texas in 2017, Lewis began her career in the hospitality industry serving seven years as the Senior Catering Sales Manager at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Seattle, followed by a position as the Conference Service Manager at the 200-year-old Fairmont Olympic Hotel, also in Seattle. Lewis holds a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Business Management from Washington State University.

Originally imagined and built by cattle baron Colonel Jesse Driskill, the hotel was conceptualized to be a luxurious grand hotel and showpiece for the once frontier town of Austin, meant to rival the palaces of other big cities. Since then, the hotel has undergone several upgrades with the most recent being a renovation of 14 guest suites on the historic side of the hotel, led by award-winning architecture firm Clayton Korte.

Hotel Revenue Management: The Age of Big Data

The future of hotel revenue management lies in the adoption of ever more sophisticated software and technology, especially as it pertains to forecasting and pricing. For revenue professionals, the Age of Big Data has arrived. Managers are utilizing systems that employ leading-edge algorithms and machine learning, along with business analytics and data visualization tools. These tools communicate complex information more effectively, allowing managers to understand the key components driving demand and revenue. They have the ability to analyze real-time external and internal data, produce reports, and integrate information - all on a single platform - in order to improve performance. Managers are also utilizing  geographic information systems (GIS) which incorporate geographic data into forecasting. GIS also help decision-makers identify information in a visual way that cannot be detected through traditional data analysis. The October issue of the Hotel Business Review will report on how some hotels are integrating Big Data into their revenue management strategies.
