Winterthur Teams with Operation Warm
Give New Winter Coats to Children in Need
WINTERTHUR, DE, November 27, 2007. Winterthur Museum & Country Estate has partnered with Operation Warm, a Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, charity that provides new winter coats to needy children, as part of Winterthur's ongoing outreach to the community. Visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to purchase a $5 ornament to decorate a special Operation Warm tree that will be featured as part of Winterthur's seasonal decor.
Operation Warm uses the cash donations to purchase new winter coats for children in need. To date, Operation Warm has distributed more than 90,000 coats to children in the Brandywine Valley region, and more than 375,000 coats to children throughout the country since its founding in 1998. Visitors to Winterthur will be able to purchase the ornaments at the Winterthur information desk and place an ornament signifying their donation on a special Operation Warm tree.
"Our Yuletide program this year is focused on celebrating children," said Jeff Groff, Winterthur's director of public programs. "So it was only natural for us to think about how we could support programs that assist children. Operation Warm does such an incredible job of helping to protect children even as they inspire self-confidence. We are proud to partner with them in highlighting their efforts and encouraging our visitors and our staff to give generously in support of needy children."
