Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo Introduces New Facial for Men

Niche SKINN Dermaceutical Line

. October 14, 2008

HONG KONG, November 19, 2007. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo has introduced 'Time For A Facial,' a proprietary facial treatment for men that incorporates a unique range of dermatologist-designed, cosmeceutical products to meet the specific needs of the spa's male clientele. Developed in collaboration with the cult Australian-based skincare brand SKINN, the treatment offers guests a unique opportunity to experience these niche products, in a luxurious 80-minute treatment.

The initiative is the latest in the award-winning hotel group's mission to create new spa experiences that are setting industry standards worldwide. In collaboration with the brand's founders, Bernadette Da Silva Fava, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group's Spa Trainer for Asia, developed the new 'Time for A Facial' treatment to restore the skin's natural balance, unclog pores and protect against ageing.

Beginning with a personalised consultation, the treatment uses no intrusive equipment, relying instead on the healing power of the spa's highly trained therapist's hands to intensively moisturise, rejuvenate, and firm the skin. If indicated, a chemical peeling process is combined with a stress-relieving back massage to prime the body for the subsequent, anti-ageing massage of the head, face, neck and shoulders. The total experience yields a clean, healthful glow to the complexion, and promises to be popular among the spa's results-oriented male clientele. Simple, effective and multifunctional, the sophisticated range of products is available for sale in Japan only at the Spa Boutique, enabling clientele to continue their skincare regimen regularly at home.

The latest initiative in the award-winning hotel group's record of creating new spa experiences that set industry standards, the 'Time for A Facial' treatment is a companion product to The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo's 'Skin Oxygen Miracle Lift' anti-ageing facial for women, which combines proprietary treatments with botanical skincare products and beauty drinks by Daniele de Winter to aid skin renewal.

The price for one, 80-minute facial is JPY32,000. As the regimen's efficacy increases over repeated use, recommended packages of six or twelve treatments are offered for JPY160,000 and JPY320,000 respectively. These rates are exclusive of a 10% service charge.

Inquiries and reservations can be made by calling The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo at +81 03-3270-8300 daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Spa is located on the 37th floor of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo in Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ward.

About SKINN

The SKINN line of scientifically formulated products was recognized in 2006 by the London Sunday Times 'Style Beauty Awards' as the 'Best Skincare Range for Men.' Created by dermatologist, Dr Nina Wines, and Annabel Merz, a biochemist, the products address the specific skincare needs of men, and are non-greasy with higher quantities of humectants, natural moisturizing factors, anti-inflammatory agents and antioxidants to combat a variety of common dermatological conditions including shaving rash and eczema. Comprised of natural derivatives, the products are also ideal for those with sensitive skin, as they contain no potential irritants or allergens commonly found in cosmetics, and have low concentrations of fragrance and preservatives.
