Cornell Students Bridge Theory and Application with New Business
ITHACA, NY, November 12, 2007. The classroom efforts of students in this school continue to challenge the hospitality scholars of today and prepare the hospitality leaders of tomorrow. Still, while there are almost unlimited examples of hotelies' abilities inside the classroom, students in the SHA are also involved in some remarkable endeavors outside of Statler Hall.
In the fall semester of 2005, a group of enterprising hotelies set out to address what they viewed as a lack of opportunities during the school year for practical application of the academic theory taught in the classroom. Under the umbrella of Student Agencies, Inc., the group created a student-based consultancy, called CHC, which would provide small hospitality firms with cutting-edge, results-oriented consulting services.
CHC's competencies range from advanced financial modeling to menu design to marketing strategy. Consisting of eight principal consultants with professional experience in a broad range of hospitality specializations, CHC is now a fully-fledged business working with clients in the Ithaca area. For more information or to contact one of the consultants, please visit the CHC website at solutionsforhospitality.com.
