AAHOA to Host Gala Capitol Hill Dinner with Representative Tom Lantos (D-CA)
SEPTEMBER 17, 2007. As a hospitality industry leader, and the largest Indian American business association in the country, AAHOA strives to cultivate awareness of laws which affect its members through frequent advocacy events in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
On September 19, 2007, AAHOA will make its mark on the Congressional season with a Gala Capitol Hill Reception and Dinner , to be held at the Senate Dirksen Office Building, Room G-50. The event will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The evening will include a keynote speech by Representative Tom Lantos (D-CA), as well as addresses from Senator Johnny Isakson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy at the Department of Labor Deborah Misir, Kansas State Legislator Raj Goyle, as well as other key Members of Congress.
Approximately 200 AAHOA leaders and members will attend. Also present will be many Senators and Members of Congress, as well as their staff members. The event will provide a forum for elected representatives to address their constituents directly, and guests in turn will be able to speak with their representatives about the subjects which concern them.
"Making sure that our nation's politicians are aware of our members' needs, both as businessmen and as private citizens, is an absolutely essential part of our advocacy program," said AAHOA Chairman Dilipkumar "Danny" Patel, one of the hosts of the event. "This event is a real reflection of AAHOA's presence in Washington, and our dedication to pushing the issues which matter to our members."
"This is our showcase event on the Hill," said AAHOA Vice-Chairman Ashwin "Ash" Patel, who is also hosting the event. "Filling a room with the people who drive policy, as well as the hotel owners who contribute so much to the industry and the nation, is a strong step towards making AAHOA a household name in the halls of Capitol Hill."
