Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf Appoints GM
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 7, 2007. Dania Duke has recently been appointed as the General Manager of Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf. She succeeds colleague Keith Butz who has been assigned as General Manager for Hyatt Regency Calgary.
An 18-year Hyatt Hotels and Resorts veteran, Duke began her career with the company as a management trainee. She has been affiliated with Hyatt properties in the Hawaiian Islands, Grand Cayman, British West Indies, the Virgin Islands, and the cities of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lexington, Kentucky; Sarasota, Florida; Indian Wells, California; San Antonio, Texas; Washington D.C.; Palo Alto, California; and most recently General Manager of Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs in Palm Springs, California.
Over the years, Duke has been an active member of Chaine Des Rotisseurs and American Institute of Food and Wine. In 2003, Duke received the Guild of Master Sommeliers in recognition for her wine expertise. Her community activities have included United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Share Our Strength, Special Olympics, Red Cross, Second Harvest Homeless Shelter, Rotary International and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Most recently, Duke served on the Boards of the Palm Springs Hospitality Association, Mainstreet Merchants of Palm Springs, the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism-Planning, Budget and Finance Committee and the Coachella Valley Economic Development Commission. One of her most significant achievements is her instrumental role in the adoption of an ordinance for the formation of a Business Improvement District for Palm Springs, California.
In September, Duke will begin with a seat on the Board of Governor's on the Fisherman's Wharf Merchants Association in San Francisco, California.
Duke's professional achievements include the 2000 Dannon International Hotelier Award, 2001 inaugural recipient of Hyatt Hotel's Operations Achievement Award and 2003 Donald J. Pritzker Award for Operations Achievement within Hyatt Hotels.
Her leisure activities are yoga, golf and photography.
