Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac Appoints GM
JULY 30, 2007. Richard Payette, Regional Vice President, Eastern Canada & General Manager, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, announced the appointment of Robert Mercure as General Manager, Fairmont Le Ch^ateau Frontenac, effective August 13, 2007.
Originally from Granby, Quebec and raised in a family of hoteliers, Mercure brings over 25 years of hospitality experience to this position, having started his career with ITT Sheraton as a Corporate Management Trainee in 1981. He held the positions of Assistant Controller at the Sheraton Savannah in Georgia and Area Assistant Controller at the Sheraton in Washington D.C before joining Montreal's InterContinental Hotel in 1995 as Director, Food & Beverage.
In 1999, Mercure joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage at The Fairmont Royal York and in 2003, he was promoted to Director of Operations at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. In 2005, Mercure was subsequently promoted to Hotel Manager, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth and in 2006 was appointed to his most recent position as Hotel Manager, Fairmont Monte Carlo. Mercure holds a Bachelor of Science, Economics/Accounting Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
