New Go Discover Website Offers Holiday Inn-spiration

. October 14, 2008

MAY 3, 2007. Today IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) introduces its new short break website www.GoDiscover.co.uk across Europe1 in ideal time for the two May Bank Holidays. As part of this launch Go Discover travellers will be able to enjoy rooms with Holiday Inn from just lb492 per night on a bed & breakfast basis until 10 June.

The Go Discover website has been developed by IHG in association with travel guide experts Lonely Planet. Working as a one-stop shop for short break inspiration and ideas, the site provides information on what to do and see, where to dine and how to get around, as well as featuring up to date availability and hotel accommodation prices. With Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, and Express by Holiday Inn properties featured on the site Go Discover has been designed to suit all budgets.

With over 550 hotels to choose from across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, Go Discover recognises that potential short breakers are spoilt for choice and appreciate a little help narrowing down their options of where to go. With this in mind, the site's range of menu options were designed to allow visitors to search for their short break by city, theme, activity, experience or event and discover their ideal destination.

Furthermore, to ensure everyone can easily identify their perfect trip away, the site is divided into the following themes:

. Food & Wine

. Shopping

. Art & Architecture

. Families

. Active Breaks

. Coast & countryside

. Romance

. Caf'e Culture

Visitors can also be inspired to select a short break by events taking place around the world. From cheese rolling in Gloucestershire and the Cannes Film Festival in France to the Vienna Classical Music Festival in Austria or La Tomatina - the tomato throwing festival in Valencia, Go Discover provides information on a variety of events and festivals to appeal to the interests of every short break lover.

Colin Roy, Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Management at IHG, said: "The development of the Go Discover website is the direct result of listening and responding to our customers' needs. With the modern-day trend for "mini adventures", we know that people are increasingly moving away from traditional brochure-based bookings and appreciate the speed and independence of booking a short break via the internet."

"Go Discover.co.uk has the real time-control and flexibility that you would expect from an online travel site, but also includes the expertise and local insights from the Lonely Planet team to provide the personal touch that can often be missing from web-based travel bookings. With two bank holidays this month and summer already upon us we are looking forward to hearing how our customers respond to the new site."

Ushma Patel, Head of Business Development at Lonely Planet added: "At Lonely Planet we've found that many people now choose where they go on holiday based on whether they can pursue their particular interests when they are there, whether it's mountain biking or visiting art galleries. This has become just as important as the destination itself. Go Discover has incorporated this into their site so that people can choose where they go based on different themes, activities, experiences or events. In teaming up with IHG we have provided content on destinations which will give people inspiration when they are looking to book a city break and help them to get the most from their holiday."
