Dubai Makes Big Splash at ATM
DUBAI, UAE, April 29, 2007. With a stand measuring 908 square metres and 68 booths, Dubai will be making its largest-ever showing at the 14th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) which gets underway at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 1 for a four day run.
The world's third biggest travel and tourism fair is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the auspices of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
The department, which is putting up the Dubai Stand, convened a meeting of the co-participants on Sunday (April 29th) to brief their representatives about the highlights of this year's annual show, DTCM initiatives and the business and networking opportunities.
It was addressed by the DTCM Director Overseas Promotions, Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, Mr. Saleh Al Geziry, DTCM Deputy Director Overseas Promotions, and Mr. Lloyd Kenyon, Regional Account Manager for Middle East and Africa at the Reed Travel Exhibitions, the organizers of the ATM-2007.
Mr. Khalifa Buamaim thanked the government and private sector organizations for their overwhelming support to the DTCM to create a strong presence for Dubai at the ATM-2007.
Mr. Saleh Al Geziry briefed the gathering about the DTCM's promotional and marketing initiatives and the highlights of the Dubai Stand at the ATM-2007.
ATM-2007 is more significant to Dubai as it comes at a time when the emirate's booming tourism industry is steaming ahead with spectacular growth levels. Dubai hospitality industry posted an all-time record revenue of AED11 billion from the 6.5 million guests hosted by 423 hotels and hotel apartments in the year 2006.
They said Dubai Stand will be one of the largest at the annual showpiece event. This will the largest-ever stand space taken by the DTCM. There will a total of 108 co-participants from Dubai 's booming tourism industry, including hotels and tour operators.
A 100 square metre space has been allocated to create Dubai Heritage Village to promote the rich heritage and culture of the emirate.
Co-participants can bring their visitors to the heritage corner and they will be briefed about the various activities. Jumeirah International has been allotted 30 square metre space at the Dubai Stand.
At the stand, the department will be displaying several electronic services like Dubai Live Map, Interactive Kioks, e-Government services and its popular and user-friendly website.
Representatives from each of the DTCM's 15 Overseas Representation Offices will also be on hand to support the Dubai co-participants on the matters pertaining to their respective markets.
The department is also bringing 102 hosted buyers from 15 countries for the Dubai co-participants. In addition to this, the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) will be participating on the Dubai Dtand promoting their popular e-Gate service.
More than 2,600 exhibitors from 62 countries are participating in the ATM-2007. Eight destinations will participate for the first time. This year's show will occupy 24,600 square metres of space, up 11 per cent on last year. At this year's show there are more than 114 new exhibitors from 34 countries, including first-time representations from China and Peru .
From May 1 to 2, ATM will be a trade-only forum. On Thursday, May 3 from 17.00 and on Friday, May 4 the show is open to the general public.
