Construction Allowed on Grand Cambrian Resort, Wisonsin Dells

Department of Natural Resources Finds Development Does Not Take Away from Wildlife Habitat and Surfa

. October 14, 2008

WISCONSIN DELLS, WI, March 17, 2008. Cambrian Development's Mac R. McDonald announced today that the Department of Natural Resources has officially granted the Chapter 30 construction permit for the Grand Cambrian Resort, a 112-acre condominium resort, water park and convention center.

McDonald states, "The review process by the D-N-R is now complete and I am excited that after a ten month process, we can move forward in the phase one construction." According to McDonald, "We've been working cooperatively with D-N-R officials to ensure appropriate protections have been incorporated into the permit. Agreements with both the City of Wisconsin Dells and now the DNR will minimize the impact with the 75-foot no disturbance zone and the minimum 120-foot set back from the high water mark." McDonald further states, "There is an extreme sense of satisfaction with the DNR's findings that our development does not take away from the scenic river beauty, wildlife habitat, and surface water use. A substantial amount of research and a great deal of thought has gone into the public's concern over erosion control and preserving the natural scenic beauty of the lower dells. We are confident that our development plans will be a model of balance between nature and commerce that the city of Wisconsin Dells and tourists can take pride in."

Grand Cambrian development acknowledges the efforts of D-N-R officials and the citizens of Wisconsin Dells who shared valuable input to preserve and protect the natural scenic beauty of the lower dells near Sugar Bowl Island. This approval from the D-N-R along with the Wisconsin Dells City Council and Plan Commission approval will ensure continued economic growth for the Wisconsin Dells for years to come.

The $160 million Grand Cambrian Resort will have 323 town homes and hotel-style condos, with prices starting at $380,000. Development plans include multiple restaurants, spa, two water parks and convention center. The site's natural bluffs of Cambrian stone, over 2000 feet of Wisconsin River shoreline and acres of woods set a scene of extreme beauty for the two main "hotel" style condominiums. Each unit on the resort's first four floors will be dividable into two sub-units of a two-bedroom suite with full kitchen and a studio unit with wet bar. Each 3 bedroom, 3 bath turnkey units will come fully furnished and include fireplace, flat screen TVs, king master suite and guest rooms featuring two queen beds. The resorts Penthouse level features 4-bedroom units with lofted entertainment suites that open to an amazing 120 square-foot viewing deck. In-mirror TVs and built-in bar areas enhance the amenity list of each unit.
