MAUI, HI, April 15, 2008. One of Hawaii's grandest and most cherished resorts is getting even better. The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa, a member of The Waldorf=Astoria Collection(R), is pressing forward on its multi-million restoration project. From restaurants and lounges, beach and pool, spa and salon, fitness center, guest rooms and landscaping to internal operations, the Grand Wailea is committed to enhancing the remarkable features that already make it one of the best in its class.

"The re-design and upgrade of our guest rooms and public areas will polish the shine on one of Maui's true gems," said Matt Bailey, managing director of the Grand Wailea. "A lot of time, effort and resources are being dedicated to the continuing enhancement and restoration of the Grand Wailea with the goal of elevating the guest experience and retaining our reputation as one of the premiere destinations in Hawai'i."

The newly renovated guest rooms will welcome guests with a tasteful blend of European and Polynesian d'ecor, including new carpeting, freshly painted buttercup walls, beautiful dark wood furnishings, 37" flat-screen televisions and new soft goods. The bathrooms have been enhanced with new European frameless shower enclosures, upgraded fixtures, lighting and artwork, complimenting the existing oversized soaking tubs, marble vanities, and sinks and accessories.

The guest room d'ecor is designed to create a unique and luxurious residential experience consistent with The Waldorf =Astoria Collection. Local Hawaii artwork graces the rooms to enhance the sense of place, and fresh colors give the rooms a contemporary twist.

Grand Wailea's exclusive Napua Tower, the private, gated club situated at the center of the hotel, featuring 100 guestrooms with upgraded accommodations, dedicated concierge services, private check-in and lounges recently completed the restoration of its rooms allowing guests to experience the new amenities and upgrades. The property's remaining 680 guest rooms are currently being upgraded and many are already available for guests to enjoy, with close to 400 slated for completion before summer.

The Mobil Four Star-rated, 50,000-square-foot Spa Grande is also undergoing a make-over. Spa Grande, the largest and most elaborate spa in Hawaii uniting Thalassotherapy, Ancient Eastern and Hawaiian philosophies, is revamping its grand lobby with fresh carpet and upgraded furnishings. New carpet, furniture, equipment and lighting will also be installed throughout the Grand Image salon and Spa Grande shop. The completely remodeled fitness center will be the newest, most state-of-the-art fitness center in the state of Hawaii. With a total project cost of $500,000 the fitness center will include new flooring, painting and all new PRECOR fitness equipment, one of the leading and most trusted brands in fitness equipment, featuring the latest in integrated audio/visual systems.

"Our goal is to build on the grandeur, remarkable setting and warm, welcoming service the Grand Wailea is known for while carefully updating our product and adding the new technology and conveniences our guests expect. It's about creating lasting memories through comfort and pampering," said Bailey. "We are excited to enhance what we feel is already a remarkable property."

Other completed projects throughout the Grand Wailea include the re-tiling of the famous mosaic Hibiscus Pool; comfortable and welcoming lobby furniture; new lighting and remodeling of the floating, thatched-roof restaurant Humuhumunukunukuapua'a and new furniture at the Botero Bar.

The Grand Wailea has also introduced a new way to vacation with the addition of private luxury town homes called Ho'olei at Grand Wailea. Adjacent to the world-class resort, this is the first opportunity for guests to vacation in deluxe, three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath town homes and enjoy access to all the outstanding amenities of the Grand Wailea Resort, including the world-renowned Wailea Canyon Activity Pool and Camp Grande, a 20,000-square-foot children's resort.
