Winterthur's Enchanted Summer Family Fun Day Set for June 21, 2008

WINTERTHUR, DE, June 13, 2008. Summer's just around the corner and Winterthur Museum & Country Estate is set for a gala celebration of the summer solstice on Saturday, June 21, 2008 as the museum hosts its Enchanted Summer Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dancing, games, crafts, and more are all part of the family fun that will take place in Winterthur's Enchanted Woods, a three-acre children's garden on the estate.

Activities:

o Summer dances performed by the Anna Marie Dance Studio (11:30 am, 1:00 pm)

o Maypole dancing by the Tatnall School Dancers (1:30 pm)

o Mother Nature and her friend the Fairy Queen teach the importance of preservation through stories, dance, and improvisation. (2:00 pm)

Throughout the day, strolling musicians Danaher and MacCloud will perform, and children can enjoy playing a variety of Colonial-era children's games. In addition, children can make fun crafts, including masks and insect magnets to take home. Face painting artists will be on hand to add to the day's fun, and Woodside Farm Creamery will be serving up its special Winterthur Faerie ice cream (additional fees apply).

The Enchanted Woods is Winterthur's award-winning children's garden, designed to encourage children and their families to engage in imaginative play and creativity. Enchanted Woods has several play areas to climb in, on, and over, including a Faerie Cottage with a thatched roof, a giant Bird's Nest, and an Acorn Tearoom for make-believe tea parties.
