Starwood Names Paul Sacco SVP, North America Development
JULY 10, 2008. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) has promoted Paul Sacco to Senior Vice President of North America Development. In his new role, Sacco will lead the company's North America hotel development activities for all Starwood brands in the U.S., Canada, Hawaii and Caribbean. Sacco will report to Simon Turner, President Global Development.
"Paul is a dynamic leader with extensive hotel development experience and I am pleased to welcome him to his new role," said Turner. "We are positioned for strong growth in North America as we continue to introduce exciting new hotel brands and successfully execute on Starwood's branded lifestyle strategy. Our goal is to have 1,500 hotels by 2013 and I am confident Paul and his team will help us get there by accelerating our footprint in North America with the right partners, in the right places with the right properties."
Sacco started his career with Starwood in 2003, as a Vice President of the Managed and Franchised Team for all brands. Starting in 2005, in addition to his Full Service responsibilities, Sacco led the development aspects of the evolution of aloft and element. Most recently he led the Franchise Development team in NA for all franchise brands. Prior to joining Starwood, Sacco worked for Swissotel, USFS, and Omni Hotels, in various leadership positions in global sales and marketing, property operations, and development. Sacco has a degree in Business Economics from Brown University.
