KSL Resorts' Winning Formula for Family Travel: Cool Pools
Age-appropriate Options Earn Guest Loyalty - La Costa Resort and Spa Features Eight Pools
JULY 16, 2008. KSL Resorts, the California-based operator of seven iconic U.S. resort properties, recently invested nearly $4 million in creating "Splash Landing" at La Costa Resort and Spa, along with the creation of the "Vibz" teen-center, and "Kidtopia," children's center. The investment was based on hard research: a 2007 survey commissioned by KSL, for instance, found that 92% of family travelers cite the pool as the top resort amenity driving their decision-making process.
Far from creating "waterparks," however - The KSL formula involves providing pools and recreational options that meet the needs of multiple-generations - allowing families to enjoy quality time together, and time apart when desired.

Domestic U.S. family travel (particularly 'multi-generational" travel) remains a bright-spot for the hospitality industry. The same KSL Resorts family survey found more than 60% of respondents planning family trips for 2008 and 2009 that are set to include three generations or more of family members.
