Ingvar Herland and P.T. Wong Appointed as GM of Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels
GM Appointments at the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited
HONG KONG, China, August 8, 2008. The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited announces the following senior appointments: Mr. Ingvar Herland as General Manager, Research & Technology; and Mr. P.T. Wong as General Manager, Project Coordination and Technical Services. Both appointees are based in Hong Kong and the appointments took effect on 1 July, 2008.
Mr. Ingvar Herland
Mr. Herland joined HSH in 2006 when he took on the position of Manager -- Engineering. He was promoted to be Assistant General Manager, Research & Technology in early 2008, and subsequently further promoted to General Manager in July 2008. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Group's design and development engineering division, which is responsible for the technological innovations for HSH hotels and non-hotel properties.
A Norwegian native, Mr. Herland gained his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Trondheim in Norway. Before joining the Group in 2006, Mr. Herland had worked in telecommunications for 24 years in different regions around the world, including Western and Southeast Europe, Asia, India, Latin America and the Baltic countries.
Mr. P.T. Wong
Mr. Wong joined HSH in 1996 as Senior Assistant Project Manager but left the Group in 2002. He re-joined in 2006 as Senior Manager, Projects. In early 2008, he was appointed Assistant General Manager, Project Coordination and Technical Services and further promoted to General Manager in July 2008. In his capacity, Mr. Wong is responsible for the technical services and project management of the Group's new and existing hotel developments.
Mr. Wong was born in Malaysia and educated in Hong Kong and the UK. He is an alumnus of Imperial College, London and is a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council, United Kingdom.
