Keri Robinson, Former GM, is Promoted to Area MD for Southern California Starwood Hotels
SEPTEMBER 22, 2008. Keri Robinson, current general manager of the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, has been promoted within the Starwood Hotels & Resorts family and will therefore be departing from the Sheraton Seattle. Matthieu G. Van Der Peet, former opening general manager of Starwood's Westin Bellevue, has been named the new general manager. Robinson's last day will be Monday, September 29, 2008.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Sheraton's Global Out of Office Day (G.O.O.D.), which encouraged people to get out of their offices and work remotely in community and social settings, such as the Sheraton's new Link@Sheraton. Robinson and Van Der Peet spent his first day working on-site from the Sheraton's complimentary Wi-Fi computers in the lobby, allowing Van Der Peet to meet and greet both employees and guests.
'G.O.O.D. allowed a great opportunity to introduce Matt to the Sheraton community,' said Robinson. 'Matt has been a part of the Starwood family for many years now, beginning his career at the Sheraton Seattle. This event allowed him to reconnect with many old colleagues and also meet a few new ones.'
Robinson has been promoted to the area managing director of 10 Starwood Hotels in Southern California. She will also take on the position of general manager at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter in the heart of San Diego, Calif. Robinson joined the Sheraton Seattle in 2006 in the midst of its $130 million expansion and renovation, which made the Sheraton Seattle Hotel the largest hotel in Seattle and the premier convention hotel in the Pacific Northwest.
'I will truly miss Seattle and have made some wonderful memories here during the past few years throughout our $130 million renovation and construction of the new tower,' said Robinson. 'I'm excited for this opportunity to continue my work within the Starwood Hotels & Resorts family in Southern California. I know that Matt will do an exceptional job in leading the Sheraton through its next exciting phase as the largest hotel in Seattle.'
Matthieu G. Van Der Peet, who has been named the new general manager of Sheraton Seattle Hotel, brings with him an impressive background of over 25 years of hotel management experience. He began his career immediately out of college at the Sheraton Seattle within their management training program and has held several positions at the hotel, most recently as hotel manager from 2000 to 2004.
'The Sheraton Seattle has always been like a family to me,' said Van Der Peet. 'After starting my career here, I'm excited to be back at the Sheraton Seattle to be a part of such an exceptional team and amazing property. '
