. October 14, 2008

NOVEMBER 1, 2006. PATA Life Member Mr Chuck Yim Gee, on behalf of the PATA Honours Committee, and PATA Hawaii Chapter's Ms Gloria Henderson convened a festive unveiling ceremony of five new plaques that were added to PATA's 'Gallery of Legends' at Honolulu International Airport.

The five iconic leaders whose plaques were unveiled, October 25, were Mr James Michener, Mr George 'Pete' Wimberly, Sir Hudson Fysh, Mr F. Marvin Plake and Mr Joseph F. Sutter.

Attending PATA Legends, Ambassador L.W. 'Bill' Lane, Jr. and Mr Joseph F. Sutter, spoke of their affection for Asia Pacific travel and tourism and PATA. Many private and public sector tourism leaders were present, including various PATA Life Members. The PATA Hawaii Chapter expressed its gratitude to Japan Airlines for shipping the plaques to Honolulu.

"PATA was founded in Hawaii in 1952 and it is most fitting that the pioneers of our industry are permanently celebrated in PATA's birthplace," said PATA President and CEO Mr Peter de Jong. "The PATA Hawaii Chapter spared no effort to make it a very warm and meaningful event."
