Michael Nagel Appointed GM of Hilton Beijing

BEIJING, China, October 31, 2008. 2008. Hilton Hotels has appointed Michael Nagel, a 37 year industry veteran, as General Manager of Hilton Beijing at a crucial time in its development following the opening of the hotel's US$35 million Executive Tower and the success of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Mr Nagel has spent the last 34 years of his career working at Hilton properties around the world; from Royal Tehran Hilton in 1975, to Hilton Petaling Jaya most recently, with postings in Trinidad, Manila, Nagoya, Osaka, Singapore, Taipei, and Seoul in between.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Nagel said, "I am thrilled to be able to join the acclaimed Hilton Beijing team at such a dynamic time in history. MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) will be the hotel's key focus in the coming year and I look forward to building on Hilton's popularity among business travellers and cementing our position as Beijing's leading business hotel."

During his seven year posting as General Manager of Hilton Pataling Jaya, Mr Nagel spearheaded several renovation projects including the refurbishment of Paya Serai restaurant, the creation of a dedicated Hilton Meetings floor and renovation to Uncle Chilli's Pub and Restaurant.

A German national, Mr Nagel started his hospitality career as an apprentice with Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg, Germany.
