Affinia Chicago Launches In-room "Sweet Treats"

Pastry Chef (and Resident Sweet Tooth) Toni Roberts Creates Seasonally Inspired Confections for Gues

. November 10, 2008

NOVEMBER 10, 2008. Traveling just got a little sweeter at the Affinia Chicago, located at 166 E. Superior Street, where a new Sweet Treats in-room dessert and candy menu offers up sweet and soothing confections to satisfy any sugar craving. The menu (which features a Candy Bar, Daily Dessert Special and Canine Confections) is the work of pastry chef Toni Roberts, whose seasonally inspired sweets at the hotel's Marcus Samuelsson-run C-House Restaurant are already the stuff of legend. Everything on the Sweet Treats menu is a hand-made, modernized classic - ranging from big daily dessert specials like hand-dipped caramel apples to one-bite nibbles like nut brittle and vanilla bean cupcakes.

From the Candy Bar, guests can choose from a collection of 12 signature sweets, such as bittersweet, semi-sweet, milk and white chocolates flavored with a seasonal filling, fruit jellies, nut brittle, cocoa almonds, berry roll-ups, salted fudge brownies, seasonal biscotti, cookie sandwiches, and vanilla bean cupcakes. The Daily Dessert Special will feature a rotating selection of larger treats that include cherry vanilla floats, milk chocolate ice cream sandwiches, hand-dipped caramel apples and more. For four-legged friends, the menu's Canine Confections include Roberts' homemade peanut butter pupcakes and cheesy bacon sharks.

Created exclusively for Affinia Chicago guests, the in-room Sweet Treats Menu is priced from $3 for Candy Bar treats and Canine Confections to $10 for Daily Dessert Specials. The Sweet Treats menu is just one example of Affinia's brand promise of total customized comfort. "In everything that we do, our goal is to ensure an experience that reflects the guest's unique needs and preferences. Whether the need is a simple one, like a salted fudge brownie, or more complex, we are committed to providing a customized stay that is both supremely comfortable and convenient," said John Moser, chief marketing officer, Affinia Hotels.

In keeping with Affinia's brand promise of total customized comfort, guests can also build a My Affinia profile to further customize their stay with an array of amenities and services, ranging from cupcakes and laptop chargers to walking kits, golf putters and more, that will be available in-room on every visit. Once a reservation is made, guests can access Affinia's e-concierge in advance to make dinner reservations, secure theatre tickets, arrange transportation service sand more.

The Affinia Chicago recently completed a $25 million renovation that included the addition of C-House, a lobby level seafood restaurant under the direction of noted chef Marcus Samuelsson of New York's famed Aquavit, and C-View, a rooftop lounge. The hotel features 215 guest rooms, 3,000 square feet of meeting space and is steps from the Magnificent Mile.
