Two Executives Appointed at Liberty Hotel, Boston, MA
JANUARY 7, 2009 - MTM Luxury Lodging and Boston's acclaimed Liberty Hotel announces the appointments of two prominent hospitality executives and New England natives to manage the Beacon Hill hotel's operations. Welcoming the duo back to the region, MTM and the hotel proudly names James Treadway, a native Bostonian and founder/CEO of MTM Luxury Lodging, as Managing Director and Rachel Moniz as Hotel Manager.
"I am thrilled to return to my hometown after 37 years to manage The Liberty Hotel, one of the most significant and highest profile properties of MTM Luxury Lodging," said Treadway. "Returning to oversee a hotel that stands just five blocks from where I grew up is serendipitous and ironic. As a child living on West Cedar Street, the Charles Street Jail was imposing; now it is one of Boston's most highly-regarded additions to the luxury hotel scene."
Treadway's hotel career began at a very early age - seven to be precise - working in a wide variety of positions in his New England family business - Treadway Inns. After Dartmouth, the Marine Corps and a stint at the Bull and Finch Pub (Cheers) as Head Bartender, Treadway earned his degree at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration and joined Westin Hotels. He spent 19 years with the company, serving as President of Westin his final four years. He left Westin in 1995 to start his own hotel management company, MTM Luxury Lodging. Based outside of Seattle, MTM Luxury Lodging was awarded the management contract for the yet to be built Liberty in 2003, and Treadway has been instrumental in the development and operation of the hotel ever since.
"We are delighted Jim has moved back home to run The Liberty Hotel," said Richard Friedman, the hotel's developer/owner. "An icon in the lodging industry, Jim brings decades of experience and we are confident that we have the very best at the helm of this distinguished hotel."
Also a New England native, Rachel Moniz is the newly appointed Hotel Manager. Moniz grew up in Connecticut and New York. After attending Wheelock College in Boston, Moniz worked at the Sheraton Boston, the St. Regis in Aspen, the W San Diego as Director of Operations, and the Ivy Hotel, also in San Diego as Hotel Manager.
"Rachel played an integral role in the success of The Ivy Hotel as manager. She oversaw all operations of the hotel and is a consummate professional, skilled in all aspects of the business," said Treadway. "We are very fortunate to have attracted her back to the Northeast."
