Ritz-Carlton, Jupiter Announces New Spa Director

JANUARY 27, 2009 - Renae Cassam has been appointed spa director at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, Jupiter. With over 20 years experience in the luxury realm, she is now responsible for managing the renowned spa facilities at the 285-acre private residential community.

Cassam's career in hospitality began in 1986 as a concierge at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center. Within the same year she transferred to the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile and in 1987 she was promoted to chief concierge at the San Francisco Marriott. In 1990, Cassam found herself back in Orlando, Fla. to serve as director of towers and concierge operations on the opening team of the Walt Disney World Dolphin.

In 1994, Cassam joined the Suite Hotel Underground Atlanta as the general manager where the hotel showed both financial gain and high occupancy rates. Cassam relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 1996 to serve as general manager for the Royal Hospitality showroom, which showcased luxury and high end suppliers of home furnishings from around the world. Two years later she served as general manager of HomeStyle Furnishings where she oversaw the opening of the new Dubai store and traveled extensively through Asia to source new products to many of the city's top luxury hotels.

Cassam moved to Doha, Qatar in 2003 where she served as both general manager and director of sales for Living-In-Interiors, which targeted upscale customers with interior decoration needs. In 2005, Cassam returned to the United States as spa director of the Wellness Spa by Jurlique at the Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead Atlanta. Her spa experience was further enhanced in 2008 as spa director of 29 Spa at the Mansion on Peachtree, a Rosewood Hotel also in Atlanta.

A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Cassam graduated from The University of Detroit with a Bachelor of art degree in liberal arts. She also has a passion for helping the hearing impaired and has spent many hours volunteering at the Piedmont Hospital assisting hearing impaired patients.
