Jobs Spared as Focus Acquires Real Hotels from Receivers
LONDON, UK, February 6, 2009 - Focus Hotels Management has completed agreements to take over 10 hotels previously leased by the Real Hotel Company, which went into administration on 21 January 2009. Focus Hotels says this has resulted in saving the business and the jobs of almost 500 people employed at the hotels.
The hotels, which have a total of 780 rooms, are in Altrincham, Wigan, Wolverhampton, Hull, Hatfield, Chester, Northampton, Stafford, Blackburn and Telford. They previously operated under the 'Quality' and 'Clarion' brands.
Peter Cashman, Chief Executive of Focus Hotels Management Ltd said, "We are delighted to have agreed a deal to operate these hotels. We believe that there is a strong opening in the current market for quality mid-market hotels offering value and excellent service".
Focus Hotels Management was formed by Peter Cashman, Alun Edwards and Tony Mylchreest in July 2007. The company currently provides management and management support services to six hotels in London, Nottingham and Swindon.
Real Hotel rans its own brand purplehotels and Stop Inns properties, as well as Comfort Inn, Quality and Clarion hotels licensed from Choice Hotels International and the New Connaught Rooms in London.
