Bruno Cristol Appointed GM of Golden Sands Resort

FEBRUARY 16, 2009 - Bruno Cristol has been appointed General Manager of Golden Sands Resort, Penang. Prior to this position, Mr Cristol was the General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns in Australia.
Previously, he was the Resident Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney, where he was actively involved in the renovation and re-branding of the hotel, which subsequently earned the hotel awards such as the "Best Luxury Accommodation" from the New South Wales Tourism Award and "Best Deluxe Hotel of the Year 2006" from the Australian Hotel Association (AHA).
Mr Cristol first joined the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts group in 2001 as the Director of Food and Beverage a key role in the hotel's upgrading and renovation programme.
A native of France and a national of Australia, Mr Cristol brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. His extensive knowledge and experience includes opening new hotels and restaurants, mainly in Australia and Asia. His career began after graduating from the Hotel Management School in Bordeaux, France. He started his Chef training at Michelin Restaurant in Biarritz, France before moving to London for three years.
His resume includes working on a luxury Cruise Liner around the Caribbean Islands and stints at various hotels of the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts groups as well as the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Australia and at the Carlton-Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes, France.
Mr Cristol is excited at his new posting in Malaysia. He is looking forward to the rigours and challenges of working in a new environment as well as experiencing the country's unique multicultural lifestyle. With his vast experience and expertise in hotel redevelopment, Mr Cristol is perfectly poised to lead the Golden Sands Resort, Penang to greater heights as the resort in now embarking on MYR 50 million repositioning programme.
