New Yorker Hotel Promotes Mitic and Vargas
NEW YORK, NY, March 3, 2009 - To complement its recent $70 million renovation, The New Yorker Hotel has made two important staff movements to assist with specific hotel operations. Persida Mitic has been promoted to the position of Government Sales Manager and Betania Vargas has been named Assistant to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
In her new position as government sales manager, Mitic will coordinate and maintain relationships with Federal Government, New York State and New York City meeting and transient government traveler clients which The New Yorker Hotel can now actively pursue since it has received its FEMA certification following the installation of a state-of-the-art, life-safety system. Mitic first joined The New Yorker Hotel team in 2005. Prior to accepting this position, she was the assistant to the hotel's director of sales & marketing, a role Vargas has moved into.
In her new position, Vargas will provide group sales rate requests, create group room contracts and reservations, send proposals to clients, update weekly sales reports, as well as other responsibilities. Prior to this position, Vargas held the title of Group Coordinator and, before that, Guest Service Agent. She has been with The New Yorker Hotel since July 2002.
