Jim Heather Named GM of Wyland Waikiki
Rebranded a Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach
HONOLULU, HI, March 6, 2009 - Barry Wallace, executive vice president of hospitality services for Outrigger Enterprises Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Heather as general manager of The Wyland Waikiki, which is being rebranded a Courtyard by Marriott this summer. Heather, who assumed his new duties on March 1st, will oversee the hotel's transition over the next few months to the newly named Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach in addition to being responsible for all operational aspects of the 405-room hotel.
"Jim is a well-respected member of the Outrigger 'ohana who brings a wealth of experience to his new position," said Wallace. "His industry knowledge, keen management style and desire for the best in hospitality will ensure a successful transition to the Courtyard brand and ongoing leadership at the hotel."
Heather began his career with Outrigger Enterprises Group in 1998 as director of rooms for the Outrigger Guam Resort, where he played a key role in the opening of the property. In 2002, he moved to Hawaii to join Outrigger's Condominium Collection as general manager of the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona resort condominium on Hawaii's Big Island. Since 2004, Heather has been general manager of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach in Honolulu. His experience in the hospitality industry also includes management positions with Hilton Hotels in Guam and Crowne Plaza in Tokyo, Japan.
Heather holds a degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Las Vegas. He has also earned his CRDE certification from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association. Heather currently is a member of the SKAL International Hawaii Board of Directors.
