SANTA MONICA, CA, March 24, 2009 - Tehmina Adaya, real estate and music entrepreneur, took over Hotel Shangri-La in 2004. Adaya was appointed to spearhead the family's vast businesses, which include this historical classic property previously owned by her father. Adaya has guided Hotel Shangei-La through its fabulous $30 million renovation.
Teaming up with Marc Smith, designer of the Edison in downtown Los Angeles, Adaya embarked on the ambitious task of turning what was once a star-studded destination into a timeless retreat, fashioned to draw in a crowd of A-list clients ranging from celebrities and the international jet set to business travelers, all of whom appreciate a Westside retreat that offers the best of both worlds.
Adding the hotel's first restaurant, simply called The Dining Room, as well as a lush poolside oasis, and an exclusive roof top lounge appropriately named Suite 700, Adaya remained committed to preserving the art-deco style of the hotel for which it had become iconic.
