Record Number Of Small Luxury Hotels Of The World Member Hotels Attend World Travel Market
OCTOBER 26, 2005. Small Luxury Hotels of the World will be out in full force at this year's World Travel Market as it is joined by 150 representatives from 64 of its member hotels. This represents a marked increase over last year when 120 representatives from 40 member hotels exhibited at the show.
Of particular significance this year is the global reach of Small Luxury Hotels of the World's properties that will be present at the corporate stand. There will be record representation from the Asia Pacific region with a total of 14 member hotels exhibiting (compared to two in 2004). There will be 47 hotels from the EMEA region (compared to 42 last year) and three member hotels from The Americas.
Also worthy of note is the number of new member hotels that will be exhibiting at Small Luxury Hotels of the World's corporate stand this year. These include six hotels from Asia Pacific, two from Europe and one from The Americas; all of which have joined the hotel consortia this year.
The brand of Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a collection of over 350 independently-owned exclusive hotels in more than 58 countries. Carefully selected for their style and sophistication, Small Luxury Hotels of the World feature award-winning properties including spas, country houses, golf resorts, island retreats, city sanctuaries and game and wilderness lodges.
"We are delighted to have such record attendance by our member hotels at WTM this year," commented Paul Kerr, Joint Managing Director, Small Luxury Hotels of the World. "Events such as WTM provide us, and our members, with excellent networking opportunities which in turn can lead to the development of exciting new initiatives and luxury partnerships," Mr Kerr added.
In addition to providing a platform for its member hotels to network with the trade, Small Luxury Hotels of the World's focus at WTM will be to further strengthen brand awareness. This will be achieved through the continued promotion of a number of new initiatives that Small Luxury Hotels of the World has embarked upon this year. These include the Luxury Escapes programme for the UK and Ireland, as well as the newly launched Winter Breaks programme for Northern and Central Europe (reservations for both these can be made via www.slh.com). Also, in recognition of the growing appeal of spas, a dedicated Spa Book featuring 53 member properties that offer luxury, full-service spas was published earlier this year and will be available at WTM. Another new initiative this year is the Small Luxury Hotels of the World Gift Certificates which can be ordered on-line at www.slh.com/gifts. The certificates, available in three different currencies (US Dollars, Euros and Sterling) and in denominations of 100, 500 and 1000, can be used as part or total payment towards a stay at any Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.
Membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World opens up a number of benefits to independent hotels. These include access to a wide range of global marketing services and activities, entry into a dedicated Small Luxury Hotels of the World directory (300,000 copies of which are distributed globally), worldwide promotion through the www.slh.com website, access to an exclusive recognition programme "The Club" (www.clubslh.com), as well as the use of a dedicated Central Reservations System.
