Kelly McCauley New GM at Coast Edmonton Plaza

APRIL 27, 2009 - Coast Hotels & Resorts today announced the appointment of Kelly McCauley as General Manager of the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel, where he will oversee all operations for the 299-room property. Kelly is returning to Edmonton where he previously worked in the early and late 1990s.

Kelly's career in the hospitality industry has taken him from the west coast to the east coast and many points in between. In 28 years, he has held management positions at hotels in Victoria, Vancouver, Lake Louise, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Kitchener, Toronto, Ottawa, Huntsville and St. John's, Newfoundland. Most recently, he served as General Manager of the 132-room Coast Victoria Harbourside Hotel & Marina in Victoria, B.C., a position he has held since February 2005.

"His extensive management expertise and understanding of the Edmonton market will be instrumental in elevating the guest experience at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel."

As an active member of the community, Kelly has volunteered his time with such diverse organizations as Special Olympics Newfoundland Labrador, Burnaby Board of Trade and the Edmonton SPCA, among others.

He is currently President of the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation as well as President of the Victoria Conservation Association. He is a Ballet Victoria Board Member and Treasurer of the Victoria Hospitality Award Program. Kelly also raises funds for the B.C. Cancer Foundation and supports the Vancouver Island Aircrew Association by bringing 100 RAF and RCAF vets to the hotel twice a year for lunch.

Kelly has a Certified Hotel Administrator designation from the American Hotel and Lodging Association and is a graduate of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He has also received extensive Sommelier training and received a Certified Food and Beverage Executive Certificate from the American Hotel and Motel Association.
