Delta's Burnaby Opens

APRIL 27, 2009 - Delta Hotels and Resorts is proud to announce the official opening of the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby, British Columbia, after an extensive redevelopment of the former hotel site into a new hotel and conference facility.

"The Delta Burnaby is Delta's eighth property in British Columbia and we are excited about our continued expansion in the province," said Hank Stackhouse, President and CEO, Delta Hotels and Resorts. "In addition to the Delta Grand Okanagan, this is the second property that we have opened in BC in the past year as we recognize the region is a top destination for business and leisure travellers."

The Delta Burnaby will be led by General Manager Daniel Ilias, an accomplished industry veteran with extensive background in both resort and urban hospitality. As the General Manager, Ilias will oversee all day-to-day operations at the hotel, which has been extensively redeveloped to upgrade the hotel and amenities. The redevelopment will be introduced in two stages with 100 rooms on floors 4-12 available on April 23rd and an additional 100 rooms on floors 14-21, including Signature Club rooms, suites and the Signature Club Lounge, opening in June. Signature Club is an exclusive offering for business travellers providing upgraded services and amenities. All guest rooms include Delta upscale offerings including the Delta Sanctuary bed and luxurious June Jacobs spa products.

Additional upgrades include a full redevelopment of the lobby, restaurant and guest corridors along with a health club and conference centre. EBO Restaurant & Lounge, led by Executive Chef Patrick Sinclair, offers West Coast cuisine with an Asian twist, serving the freshest local ingredients.

The conference centre offers 12,000 square feet of meeting space while the property boasts the largest ballroom in the city, the Grand Villa Ballroom, which seats 500 guests for dinner and offers magnificent views of the Burnaby mountains.

The hotel is situated on the Grand Villa complex which is also home to the 100,000 square foot Grand Villa Casino.
