La Vista Complex Touts 503 Hotel Rooms and 100,000 Gross Square Feet of Meeting Space
MAY 4, 2009 - Mr. John Q. Hammons' 246-room Courtyard by Marriott(R) Omaha - La Vista at 12560 Westport Parkway in La Vista, Neb., is open for business. Featuring the Courtyard brand's new, refreshing personalized design and amenities, the Courtyard Omaha - La Vista is adjacent to Mr. Hammons' 100,000-gross-square-foot La Vista Conference Center and 257-suite Embassy Suites(R) Omaha - La Vista, which opened in July 2008. Responsible for creating nearly 300 new jobs over the last nine months, the expansive hotel and meeting complex is the largest of its kind in Nebraska. All three facilities are owned by living hotel legend Mr. Hammons and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the nation's leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites.
An official ribbon cutting with city officials is scheduled for late May. The hotel's first guest was Allen Stow of First National Bank, a major employer in the Omaha - La Vista area. Stow experienced several of the Courtyard brand's new, refreshing personalized elements featured at the hotel, including:
o Welcome pedestals for seamless associate-guest interaction
o Cutting-edge technology with relevant information, including 57" LCD TV GoBoardTM with touch screen with local information, maps, weather and news, business and sports headlines
o Private, yet energetic common areas with 20" LCD TVs in media booths, lounge and local library for exploration
o Functionally stylish lobby areas, including pull-up tray tables and wireless Internet access
o Stylish and versatile S-counter for coffee bar by day and hot spot by night
o The MarketTM guest store for convenience and substance
With convenient access to I-80, the Courtyard Omaha - La Vista is located in the heart of Sarpy County's new 250-acre Southport business development adjacent to Cabela's Retail Superstore. The La Vista Complex is 20 minutes from Omaha's Eppley Airport, 40 minutes from Lincoln, and a short drive to Offutt Air Force Base, as well as to Creighton University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, comprising a combined student population of nearly 20,000. La Vista has become one of the fastest growing cities in Nebraska, attracting large companies such as PayPal, Securities America, HP Computers, Streck Laboratories, and Oriental Trading Company*.
"Pre-opening sales indicate significant interest in the hotel. Our implementation of Courtyard's new look, the property's ideal location, and its connection to the La Vista Conference Center create a winning formula," said Maher Sufian, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Omaha - La Vista.
The Courtyard by Marriott Omaha - La Vista brings the hotel room count to 503 for the La Vista Complex, enhancing Sarpy County's ability to draw and host a range of conferences, meetings and gala dinners.
"With the opening of a high quality John Q. Hammons hotel and the La Vista Conference Center last year, the City is already realizing the positive impact that a development like this brings to a community," stated La Vista Mayor Douglas Kindig. "La Vista is extremely excited about the addition of the Courtyard by Marriott, another Hammons project, to this complex and the opportunities that continue to occur as a result of Mr. Hammons' commitment to La Vista and this project."
The hotel opening marks Mr. Hammons' fourth in Nebraska. Besides the two La Vista Complex hotels, John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts operates the 249-suite Embassy Suites Omaha Downtown/Old Market and 252-suite Embassy Suites Lincoln at the University of Nebraska.
