Austin's Driskill Hotel Names Sales and Marketing Leadership

Brett Boreing & Linda Poole Named to Lead the Sales, Marketing & Catering Efforts

AUSTIN, TX, May 12, 2009 - John Spomer, managing director for The Driskill Hotel, recently announced that Brett Boreing was appointed director of sales and marketing for the historic property and that Linda Poole joins the hotel as director of catering.

With more than 15 years experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries, Boreing brings a unique combination of food and beverage, marketing and sales background to The Driskill. His expertise mainly has been with independent hotels and resorts across the country such as the Hotel Contessa in San Antonio, Texas. He joins The Driskill most recently having worked for the 265-room property located along the famed San Antonio Riverwalk.

Boreing's background in independent properties also includes Virginia Crossing Resort in Richmond, Va., The Northland Inn in Minneapolis, Minn., The Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, Va., and Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo. He began working in hospitality after a number of successful years working in the restaurant industry in Colorado and Wyoming.

Boreing has received a number of accolades from past employers including director of sales and marketing of the year and sales leader of the year. He attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie where he majored in business.

Linda Poole joins The Driskill to oversee all catering and conference service programs for the historic property. As director of catering, she will focus on providing service to groups and meetings that book at The Driskill, as well as ramping up the social, catering and weddings business at the property.

An Austin resident for nearly 25 years, Poole joins the hotel from Ernst & Young where she was responsible for a $4.5 million catering sales budget each year. Prior to handling marketing and events for Ernst & Young, Poole worked in catering and sales for a number of hotels in the Austin area including the Renaissance Austin Hotel, Austin Hotel and the Austin Marriott at the Capitol.

Poole is very active in the community and personally supports organizations such as the Women's Symphony League of Austin, Hospice Austin and Ballet Austin Guild.

The 189-room Driskill Hotel was built in 1886 as the showplace of cattle baron Jessie Driskill.
