Sabre Help Airlines Meet IATA Goals
EUROPEAN UNION, June 8, 2005. Sabre Airline Solutions, has introduced an electronic ticketing product for airlines in support of IATA's drive for 100 percent electronic ticketing by 2007. Electronic Ticket Essentials, enables an airline to distribute electronic tickets through travel agents, 'interline' electronic tickets for e-ticketing among multiple carriers, and check in passengers with electronic tickets.
The product is based on 'open' technology that allows it to communicate with any airline's own IT system. Unlike the conventional approach to electronic ticketing, which requires significant changes to airline business processes in several areas, Electronic Ticket Essentials retains existing processes within the airline, minimising internal costs and training.
The product also minimises activation costs, and a transaction fee pricing approach allows carriers of all sizes to realise the full benefits of GDS electronic ticketing. "Airlines are looking to their technology partners to simplify the travel process- and e-ticketing is an area in which we believe we have strongly delivered robust solutions," said Gianni Marostica, Sabre Airline Solutions' president of airline passenger solutions.
