Greater Fort Lauderdale Announces Highest Ever Tourism Numbers for September

Steady increases in key tourism indicators highlight 10 year growth trend

GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, November 10, 2005. Greater Fort Lauderdale continued to eclipse its key tourism indicators with a record September 2005 that saw the highest ever occupancy rate and average daily rate (ADR) for that month. The destination's occupancy grew 1% to 62.7%, while ADR passed the $80 mark for the first time in September, reaching $84.40. This represented a 6.6% rate increase over September 2004. Preliminary September 2005 bed tax collections increased 8.46%, totaling $2,019,264 also a high mark for the month.

Greater Fort Lauderdale's record breaking numbers highlight a 10-year growth trend in occupancy and ADR. The period from January through September 1995 yielded an average daily rate of $69.35. For the same period in 2005, Greater Fort Lauderdale's ADR is $100.28, an increase of nearly $31. For the same ten year period, January through September, the destination's occupancy rate has grown 7.9%
