Wotif.com CEO Named Entrepreneur of the Year
NOVEMBER 25, 2005. Graeme Wood, CEO and co-founder, Wotif.com, has been awarded as a national category winner at the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
The judges - awarding Graeme as national winner in the Technology, Communications, E-commerce and Life Sciences category - commented: "Graeme Wood recognised an opportunity which required innovative thinking and a clear business plan. Graeme launched Wotif.com in March 2000, pioneering the selling of accommodation online in Australia. By only selling vacant accommodation into the next few weeks, Wotif.com was able to offer great rates with big savings on a hotel's normal rate.
Wotif.com was the first website to bring live hotel inventory to the retail market, setting a new standard that brought about a significant change in consumer behaviour.
