The Sanderling Resort Renovating Guestrooms

. October 14, 2008

DUCK, NC, December 19, 2005. The Sanderling will begin renovating its 88 guestrooms and suites in January. Each one of the three inns that comprise the resort will be done one by one, allowing the property to remain open during the makeover, which is scheduled for completion in March 2006.

The $4-million renovation project will be handled by the interior design firm of Alexander Cook & Co., Inc., based in Winston Salem, NC. Designers Lisa Alexander and Kirsten Cook said they will modernize the resort's accommodations and in-room amenities while maintaining The Sanderling's individuality and beach-side charm.

The bathrooms will be enlarged with walk-in showers and soaking tubs, granite counters with under-mount sinks, antiqued bronze finish light fixtures and tile detailing. A king-size bed dressed with a plush upholstered headboard, crisp white sheets and a matelass'e coverlet will be added to each guestroom along with a chenille throw blanket and 32-inch flat screen TV.

A mix of eclectic furniture styles and finishes will also be installed including a dresser of waxed pine featuring six drawers and a granite top, a pullout sofa and chenille lounge chair, plus a 36-inch round dining table in a natural cherry finish. New high-speed wireless Internet service will also be available in every guestroom.

The Sanderling is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
